FAQs

What to expect, how it works, and what’s okay to ask.

  • Once we schedule your intake session, I’ll send over digital paperwork through my client portal. Please complete all forms before our first appointment. If you're bringing your child, I’ll also ask for any relevant background (school reports, behavioral notes, etc.).

  • You can reach out through my contact form, email, or call to request a free consultation. After that, we’ll set up your first appointment and walk through the next steps together.

  • Absolutely. I offer free phone consultations to see if we’re a good fit and to answer any questions you might have.

  • The first session is about getting to know each other. For kids, that may involve play and gentle conversation. For teens and adults, we talk about what’s bringing you in, your goals, and how we’ll work together. There’s no pressure to go deep right away—just show up as you are.

  • Yes, sometimes. Depending on your child’s age and needs, I may involve you in part of the session or schedule separate parent support appointments. We’ll talk together about what makes the most sense for your child.

  • Totally. Therapy is real life—we want you (and your child) to feel comfortable. My office has snacks and beverages available if ever needed.

  • Warm, relaxed, and nonjudgmental. There’s a cozy therapy space, soft lighting, a therapy dog if you’d like her involved, and no pressure to “perform” or be anyone but yourself.

  • Sessions typically run 45–50 minutes. Parent support sessions may be slightly shorter depending on needs.

  • Most clients attend weekly sessions. We’ll adjust frequency based on goals, availability, and what feels sustainable.

  • It depends. Some clients benefit from short-term support (8–12 sessions); others stay longer. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is helpful and aligned with your goals.

  • Goodbyes matter. When it’s time to wrap up, we’ll plan for a thoughtful closing that includes reflection, celebration of growth, and tools to carry forward.

  • Yes. I offer telehealth for teens, young adults, and parents located in Texas. These sessions are HIPAA-compliant and easy to access through a secure platform.

  • My availability varies, but I offer afternoon and evening appointments. I’ll do my best to find a time that works for your schedule.

  • Yes—if it's clinically appropriate and helpful for treatment planning or school accommodations. I won’t diagnose just for the sake of labeling. I’ll always talk with you first if a diagnosis is being considered.

  • No. As a therapist, I don’t prescribe medications. However, I can coordinate with your child’s pediatrician or psychiatrist (with your consent) if we need to collaborate on care.

  • Yes—with your signed consent. Collaboration is often helpful to support consistency across environments.

  • A 504 Plan is designed to provide accommodations for students with disabilities to ensure equal access to learning. An IEP (Individualized Education Plan) includes specialized instruction and related services. Both involve formal school processes but serve different student needs. I can help you understand which path may apply to your child.

  • Yes. I offer school advocacy services which can include helping you prepare for meetings (like ARDs or 504 conferences) or attending as a support person when appropriate. My goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and confident during school-based discussions.

  • With your written permission, I can collaborate with school staff to ensure consistency between therapy goals and classroom support. This often helps everyone work together more effectively.

  • Absolutely. I can review school evaluations (such as FIEs or RTI data) with you and explain what it all means in plain, supportive language.

  • That’s totally normal. We can start by talking through your concerns, your child’s school experience, and any documentation you have. From there, I’ll help guide you through next steps based on your unique situation.
