About Us
Welcome—we’re so glad you’re here.
At Zoey’s Friends, we support children, teens, young adults, and parents through the ups, downs, and in-betweens of life. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, big transitions, or just trying to figure out what’s going on—this is a space where you (and your child) can show up exactly as you are.
We blend play, creativity, and connection to help clients feel more calm, confident, and capable. And yes—therapy with us often includes belly rubs for Zoey!
Real support. Real connection. One very good dog.
Meet Haileigh
Hi again—I’m Haileigh Pettigrew, the founder of Zoey’s Friends. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist (in-progress), and also a school counselor at The Kinkaid School here in Houston.
I’ve spent years helping kids, teens, young adults, and families work through life’s emotional twists and turns—big and small. I believe therapy should feel like a breath of fresh air: safe, supportive, and never cold or clinical. I bring a calm, encouraging presence and use a blend of play, conversation, creativity, and structure tailored to each client’s age and needs. Whether we’re working through anxiety, perfectionism, big feelings, or life transitions, my goal is for you (or your child) to feel understood, empowered, and equipped.
Meet Zoey
Zoey is my certified therapy dog and co-therapist—a loyal, intuitive mix of German Shepherd, Husky, Pit Bull, and Blue Heeler. She’s 8 years old, professionally trained through the Texas State University Animal-Assisted Counseling Academy, and very good at her job.
Zoey’s magic is helping clients feel safe and settled, especially when opening up feels tough. She brings joy, comfort, and a quiet confidence to the therapy space. She’s especially good at reading the room, sitting close when someone’s upset, and offering nonjudgmental snuggles when words are hard to find. Her favorite things include fluffy pillows, taking walks, belly rubs, and treats of any kind!
What We Believe
Therapy should feel human, not clinical
All emotions are welcome here—big, small, messy, or confusing
You’re already doing the best you can
With the right support, things can get better
Kids communicate through play—we meet them there
Trust is built through consistency, safety, and connection
Parents are an essential part of the process (and deserve support too)
Therapy works best when it feels like a relationship, not a routine
